Campionato neozelandese di scacchi

Il campionato neozelandese di scacchi si gioca dal 1879 in Nuova Zelanda per determinare il campione nazionale di scacchi. Si gioca normalmente tra la fine di dicembre e l'inizio di gennaio.

È organizzato dalla Federazione scacchistica della Nuova Zelanda (New Zealand Chess Federation).

Fino al 1934 vi potevano partecipare anche giocatori stranieri, con assegnazione del titolo. Il regolamento venne però cambiato nel 1935; John Angus Erskine (vincitore nel 1929 e 1935) era nativo di Invercargill e quindi, pur risiedendo a Melbourne in Australia, era considerato di cittadinanza neozelandese.[1]
