Statocisti
Le statocisti sono degli organi di senso dell'equilibrio presenti in alcuni invertebrati acquatici, tra cui i molluschi,[1] i bivalvi,[2] i celenterati,[3] gli ctenofori,[4] gli echinodermi,[5] i cefalopodi,[6] e i crostacei.[7] Una struttura simile si trova anche nel genere Xenoturbella.[8]
Le statocisti sono contenute all'interno del ropalio, dei rigonfiamenti posti al bordo dell'ombrello delle meduse contenente le statocisti, dei fotorecettori detti ocelli, e dei chemiorecettori.[9]
