Negli Stati Uniti, l'album fu pubblicato con il titolo When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease. Harper considera HQ come "...il miglior disco che ho fatto"[1]
Sull'album compaiono David Gilmour e John Paul Jones, alla chitarra solista e al basso in "The Game" e anche The Grimethorpe Colliery Band in "When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease", una delle più note canzoni di Harper.
Copertina modifica
La copertina dell'album è stata creata da Hipgnosis. Al riguardo Harper ha detto:
«In reply to walking on water I should just like to say that the album sleeve design for HQ was given completely to Hipgnosis. When they presented me with the finished product I laughed and ok'd it on the spot. The picture was taken by Po Powell on the Isle of Skye. I have still not been to the Isle of Skye.
