Dorothy Moore (Jackson, 13 ottobre 1946) è una cantante statunitense.

Biografia

Dorothy Moore crebbe a Jackson, in Mississippi, e si approcciò per la prima volta al mondo della musica cantando nel coro della chiesa. Dopo una prima esperienza con il gruppo The Poppies, attivo per la Columbia, la Moore avviò una carriera solista nel 1976 per la Moloco Records.^[1] Il suo più grande successo, Misty Blue, si è classificato al 3° posto della Billboard Hot 100^[2] ed ha ricevuto una candidatura al Premio Grammy come Grammy Award alla miglior interpretazione vocale R&B femminile.^[3] Nella medesima categoria ha ricevuto una seconda candidatura per I Believe You nel 1979.^[3]

Nel 2002 ha fondato l'etichetta Farish Street Records.^[4]
