Wittenberg 1997, ISBN 3-9804492-8-9 Katalog zur gleichnamigen Ausstellung im Reformationsgeschichtlichen Museum Lutherhalle Wittenberg Der Wittenberger Neuauflage dieses im 13. Jahrhundert entstandenen Lehrbuches der Astrologie und Astronomie des Mittelalters wurde als Vorwort ein Brief Melanchthons an Symon Gryneus vorangestellt. Hier die Übersetzung einer Passage des lateinischen Textes: "Da also die menschlichen Seelen nicht nur durch eine Art von Grund bewegt werden, folgt daraus, dass die Gesetze der Schicksale auf verschiedene Arten beeinträchtigt werden, bisweilen durch göttlichen Anhauch, bisweilen durch Unterweisung, bisweilen durch Überlegung, und es folgt daraus, dass die Gesetze des Schicksals bisweilen auch vom Teufel zum Schlechteren gewendet werden. Ausgezeichnet sagt also Ptolemaeus: Die Entscheidungen der Astrologen haben nicht prätorischen Charakter. Denn die Beschlüsse des Prätoren zwingen das Volk zu gehorchen. Wittenberg 1997, ISBN 3-9804492-8-9 Catalog of the exhibition of the same name in the Reformation-Historical Museum Lutherhalle Wittenberg The Wittenberg edition of this textbook of astrology and astronomy of the Middle Ages, which was written in the 13th century, was preceded by a letter from Melanchthon to Symon Gryneus. Here is the translation of a passage of the Latin text: "Thus, since human souls are not moved by some sort of reason, it follows that the laws of destinies are adversely affected in various ways, sometimes by divine breath, sometimes by instruction, sometimes by reflection, and it follows that Ptolemy says: The decisions of the astrologers are not praetoric, for the praetor's decisions compel the people to obey, but those signs do not impose violence on people, even if they do not idle everywhere." |
