Kwame Alexander (Manhattan, 21 agosto 1968) è uno scrittore statunitense.

Nato a Manhattan nel 1968 da padre scrittore e madre insegnante d'inglese[1], ha studiato medicina al Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University[2].

Ha iniziato a scrivere poesie dopo aver frequentato un corso di Nikki Giovanni[3] e nel corso della sua carriera ha pubblicato saggi, romanzi per ragazzi, libri illustrati e raccolte di liriche[4].

Nel 2015 è stato insignito della Medaglia Newbery per il romanzo in versi Crossover[5], storia di Josh, di suo gemello Jordan e del loro amore per la pallacanestro[6].
