Dopo aver esordito in teatro come attore, Lindsay-Hogg passò alla televisione dirigendo a metà degli anni sessanta il programma settimanale ''Ready, Steady, Go!'', a cui diverse volte parteciparono i [[The Beatles|Beatles]]. Fu perciò incaricato dal gruppo musicale di realizzare dei filmati per il lancio di alcuni dischi. Il primo fu relativo a ''[[Paperback Writer]]/[[Rain (The Beatles)|Rain]]''<ref>{{Cita|Bramwell, 2006|p. 181}}.</ref>, a cui seguirono i video di ''[[Hey Jude (singolo)|Hey Jude]]'' e ''[[Revolution (The Beatles)|Revolution]]'', effettuati negli studi di Twickenham nel settembre del 1968<ref>{{Cita|Lewisohn, 2005|p. 296}}</ref> e il "[[Concerto dei Beatles sul tetto|Rooftop Concert]]", che rimase immortalato nel documentario ''[[Let It Be - Un giorno con i Beatles|Let It Be]]'', opera premiata con l'Oscar per la Miglior Colonna Sonora Originale<ref>{{Cita|Harry, 2001|pp. 442-3}}.</ref>. Dopo lo scioglimento del quartetto, fu sua la direzione nel 1978 del promo ''[[London Town (album Wings)|London Town]]'' con i [[Wings (gruppo musicale)|Wings]]<ref>{{Cita|Harry, 2001|p. 447}}.</ref>. Lindsay-Hogg si occupò anche dei video di altri artisti rock: fra di essi i [[Rolling Stones]] per i quali diresse i promo a partire da ''[[Jumpin' Jack Flash (brano musicale)|Jumping Jack Flash]]'' e ''[[The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus]]''<ref>{{Cita|Bramwell, 2006|p. 308}}.</ref>. Per il resto, si è dedicato principalmente alla regia di serie TV e film TV, dirigendo attori di fama fra i quali [[Geraldine Page]], [[James Mason]], [[Melina MercouriMerkourī]], [[Jeremy Irons]], Laurence Olivier e [[Andie MacDowell]]. Il suo maggior successo è costituito dalla serie TV ''[[Ritorno a Brideshead (serie televisiva)|Brideshead Revisited]]'', che nel 1982 è stato insignito di sette premi BAFTA TV e del Premio Emmy, e l'anno seguente ha vinto un Golden Globe<ref>{{cita web|lingua=en|url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083390/awards?ref_=tt_awd|titolo=Awards for “Brideshead Revisited”|editore=''IMDb''|accesso=2 luglio 2013|autore=}}</ref>.
