'''History'''

'''DEMM''' (Daldi and Matteucci Milano) was born as an anonymous company in Porretta Terme in 1928 at the behest of Giacomo Daldi and Luigi Matteucci.

Giacomo Daldi wanted from the beginning to continue with the business of the company which he started in 1919, with the help of his brother and friend Matteucci, called O.P.R.A.M. (Workshop for Auto and Motorcycle Parts) but which was based in Milan in via Spallanzani and where the administrative and commercial offices of the newly born Demm will be left.

Demm Dick-Dick 2T 50 three gears from 1960

The DEMM company starts its first huge production line of very high quality gears, then moves on to machine tools for the production of both straight and helical toothed gears, designing and patenting an innovative lubrication system. From this comes a parallel and third production line of tools for machine tools. The market and innovations take Demm higher and higher, so much so as to give life to a fourth production line, which starts with the production of measuring instruments: gauges, micrometers and comparators.

In 1953, a new market threshold was conquered, that of engines, with a light motorbike, the Demm 125cc 2T, four speed and presented the Milan Cycle and Motorcycle Fair in 1954. From there the production line of the 30 ° inclined three-speed vertical cylinder, the Demm 50cc 2T initially for other assemblers. In 1956 the production of the entire moped began with the model called Demm Dick-Dick, the true progenitor of all subsequent series. All the half-cast of the 50 cm³ engines are made of die-cast aluminum and assembled in the mounting line without additional machining with pneumatic screwdrivers with the use of Allen screws and the aid of rounded gears created inside the company proving to be technologically avant-garde for the time.

Parallel to the series production, the company supports the sport sector by creating the internal racing team , which engages in various championships such as participation in the Italian mountain championship, Italian circuit championship and attempts at world records.

Demm '''DEMM 50 Sport Special''' from 1965

DEMM motorcycle production immediately obtains the consent of customers, thus conquering ever wider market sectors until the mid-sixties in which it becomes the fourth Italian manufacturer of registred bike number. The DEMM models also land in various foreign countries, such as India, the United States of America and especially Denmark.

The models undergo continuous technological and aesthetic evolutions until 1982, the year in which all the DEMM motor cycle production ceases; the factory continues its warehouse sales, approximately until 1988, when it definitively closes the doors.

The production plant instead focuses on the production of gears, transmission systems and machine tools for the production of gears. He joined the '''PAI''' group first and then the '''ZF group'''. in 1993 it was acquired by the Paritel group, which after reorganizing it in 2000 sold it to the Graziano Trasmissioni Group which integrates the plant into its industrial organization.

In 2012, the Graziano Trasmissioni Group, which in the meantime had become Oerlikon Graziano, sold the Porretta plant again to Paritel, which reconstituted DEMM by launching a new recovery plan.
