I luoghi sacri del sunnismo sono per i primi tre posti gli stessi di [[sciismo|sciiti]] e [[kharigiti]] (cioè [[Al-Masjid al-Haram]] della [[Mecca]], secondo la [[Moschea del Profeta]] a [[Medina]], il terzo è la [[Monte del Tempio|Spianata delle Moschee]] a [[Gerusalemme]]). Il quarto posto è l'università islamica [[al-Azhar]] al [[Cairo]] (in particolare la sua [[Moschea di al-Azhar|moschea]]).
