===L'ATP===
Nel 1990, l'[[Association of Tennis Professionals|ATP]] guidata da Hamilton Jordan, rimpiazzò l'MTC come organo di governo del circuito professionistico maschile. Nel 1990 i nove principali tornei Grand Prix andarono a formarono una categoria all'interno del primo [[ATP Tour]], conosciuta come [[ATP Championship Series|Championship Series - Singola settimana]], ma l'etichetta Grand Prix fu utilizzata fino al 1997 per indicare i tornei di maggior prestigio dopo quelli dello slam. Nel 1998 dodici dei più importanti tornei di quel circuito diventaronoandarono a formaronocostituire la categoria [[ATP International Series Gold]] mentre gli altri, circa una cinquantina, diventarono [[ATP International Series|International Series]].
 
replaced the MTC as the governing body of men's professional tennis, and the ATP Tour was born. With the beginning of the ATP Tour in 1990, the nine most prestigious events on the Grand Prix Tennis Circuit became known as Championship Series - Single Week events. The label 'Grand Prix' was retained by the ATP Tour however to the end of 1997 for all remaining top-tier events. For 1998, twelve of the more prestigious Grand Prix events became International Series Gold tournaments, while the remaining ones (approximately 50) became known as International Series events.
