Herbert Lawford ha battuto nella finale del torneo preliminare Ernest Renshaw per 5–7, 6–1, 0–6, 6–2, 6–4. Nel Challenge Round il detentore del titolo William Renshaw ha battuto Herbert Lawford per 7–5, 6–2, 4–6, 7–5.[1][2]

È stato il quinto titolo consecutivo per Renshaw che ha ulteriormente migliorato il suo stesso record, per Lawford è stata la terza finale sui campi londinesi in cui ne è uscito sconfitto.
