Reginald Doherty ha battuto nella finale del torneo preliminare Wilberforce Eaves che si è ritirato sul punteggio di 6–3, 7–5, 2–0. Nel Challenge Round Doherty ha avuto la meglio sul detentore del titolo Harold Mahony per 6–4, 6–4, 6–3.[1][2]

È stato il primo titolo a Wimbledon per Doherty che insieme al fratello Laurence dominerà per un decennio il torneo londinese.
