Ciao MidBi, your annulation of my correcting Finis Bellis into Fin de la guerre is sheer vandalism. Do you have any source proving that the ship was ever called "Finis Bellis"? The essay by J. Rudloff, whom your article prefers to misspell Rudlov, states, that Thurston named the "Finis Bellis" the first ironclad warship. But this is wrong: for Robert Henry Thurston always writes "Finis Belli", which is correct Latin for end of war, while "Finis Bellis" (dativ plural) is not. The issue has been discussed here and the German article Finis Bellis was then renamed into de:Fin de la Guerre. Which, as Demostene119 has already pointed out, is the name under which this ship became known. The contemporary print by Frans Hogenberg doesn't know any other name, either. Nor does this print of 1678 by Jan Luyken. --Vsop.de (msg) 14:18, 10 mar 2015 (CET)Rispondi
