Tradizionalmente le 38 opere (questo il numero che a tutt'oggi si attribuisce con una certa sicurezza all'intera produzione dello scrittore di Stratford-upon-Avon) sono divise nei generi della Tragedia, Storia, e Commedia, esse sono state tradotte in tutte le principali lingue attualmente parlate, in addition to being continually performed all around the world.
