OVERUNITMACHINE is a rock metal italian band founded in the winter of 2000 in Pordenone, by Demian V.D. – the sole component that has to this day remained in the band. The configuration of the band though has suffered along the time a few radical changes. Members starting with 2016 are: leader and founder DEMIAN V.D. - vocal and, ZIMON - bass, ZYON - guitar, FADE - guitar, D.K. - drums.

  • -  The band has chosen not to approach the professional realm, remaining mainly in the hobby area, performing in the beginning in various clubs, bars, pubs, then once it started to grow, they started to give individual concerts in Italy, sometimes 10 -12 in one month, or perform next to other bands in numerous shows organized in Italy or abroad. Among their unusual experiences notably remains the live performance that was entirely given inside a huge ice cube live at -14°C, on the occasion of an interantional skiing competition. The style the band has adopted, crossover/experimental with electronic synthetisations, is complex, decided, rather melodic alterned with explosive unchainings, demonstrative, displying a wide opening freed from classifications, towards „anything that can cross your mind” (Demian V.D.), selecting and enclosing all kinds of elements traditionally-influent from outside metal such as: hard, progressive, funk, hip hop, here and there jazz, in one word anything that can be conveniently exploited, even classical (modulations mosly vocal byzantine/gregorian), converted characteristics largely specific heavy-metal, from sharp vocal to death – grunt, doom, hard-core, stoner, power, industrial, all carried on to an extremely precise force unit, massive, unhesitant.

The voice is forceful, totally distinct, ”tearing the stage”, with a remarcable fluence, defines the proeminent personality of the leader, charismatic, energetic, with a visible appearance and an extremely precise, sharp, intense resonance, redefining, (restoring) a warm metal, an affective, humane, damned element, in contrast with a declared mechanist universe, with relfex, with absence, with routine.

The conceptual message. Subliminally, the socio-political protest is insidiously transparing although the author does not recognise it directly and it is not explicitly expressed. In Nursery Rhymes the perfidious to almost pervert game of maturity is rather abruptly diguised in the innocence of the childish game, it splits it inside with cruelty, it bloodily violates it, while denying, diverting and staining its delicacy, commits through denial a psychic abuse of candor. Antropophobia, a concept album of an astonishing coherence of the composition brings already the atristic maturity, it unravels as a protest against deviation and pedofilia greatly excelling in a suprasensitive approach of daily perceptions. Ungod, another introspective episode, with the already notorious song Ikarus, the protagonist of a mirroring flight, reversed downwards, immersed in darkness, methaphor of the labyrinthical structure, rebellious in a symmetrically freeing immersion, cathartical, towards the pshychical depth, avid for submersive truths. Aldaraja monolithical striking and invasive sound is a domineering cavalcade, a sound of air and space, a vindictive, furious victory of illumination, a heavy tornado grubbing up anything on its way but freeing with its centrifugal force a fetid mud gathered inside, a plea that pathetically strikes from behind a deceitful serenity that seems intermediate, hybrid, it only seems a mask, aquired following a transient death as this illumination is only short apnea during a rage episode.

The Lyrics – of universal classical literary value. The word that exploits and institutionalise the sound. The lyrics belong exclusively to the band leader Demian V. D., extremely visible connected to the audible stand, situated in a syncretic relation of importance, unexpectedly eluding the decadence, they unfold relationally, aiming originally beyond the cliché- like problem of contemporary dispair, at the human that is captive to an internal synusoide, at the teasing descriptive of the hostility that surrounds him, in a permanent swing in the maniheist (conflict between good/bad) exasperation, collapsing and rising (poetic walk anabasic/catabasic) – beyond appearance, family, entourage, environment, social conflict – preferring to rather tightrope-walk, unwisely, in the luciferic image of the reflexion, in his rebellious side, through a dramatic inquiry of the self, introspection, tearing, exacerbated living, neurotic mental process, exhaution, self- decomposition, permanent reformulation, often using the mythological metaphore, the archetype reference and always ending with a glimpse into the functional verdict, the optimistic one: the salvation.

Biography
EARLY YEARS

Date of birth: winter 2000. Grows up eating spoonfuls of modern metal flavoured with industrial, electronic music and whatever comes to mind (in a word: crossover). The lyrics bleed out from the many wounds of this modern world, wounds inflicted by the man to his brother, his child, his environment and, ultimately, to himself. The early years are spent firing

stages all around the local area, whether in small clubs or huge festival venues. 2005

“NURSERY RHYMES” (self-production, 2005), self-distributed at gigs, sells more than 1000 copies and builds up a considerable fanbase, leading to friendships and collaborations with renowned local artists for remixes, indie movie soundtracks (“Film Sporco”) and artworks, not to mention the support from the fashion labels “MURDER” and “HEIDI”.

2006-2007

The fanbase gets bigger, the stage pals get first-class: as an opening act for CRO-MAGS’ reunion tour, plus supporting RAGING SPEEDHORN, TWELVE TRIBES, SLOWMOTION APOCALYPSE and more, the band’s exposure leads to a collaboration with ALKEMIST FANATIX EUROPE, eventually resulting in a contract with KILLERPOOL RECORDS.

2008-2009

“ANTROPOPHOBIA” (KillerPool Records, 2008), recorded at SubSound Studios (Rome, IT) by Victor Love, mastered by John Golden at Golden Studios (Ventura, CA) and distributed in Europe by Code7 and PlasticHead: the band’s exposure takes a further leap forward, and top-level magazines (Metal Hammer, Metal Shock, Legacy, Rock Sound) spread the buzzing, along with tons of webzines.

Meanwhile, California-based street fashion label IRONFIST CLOTHING (which dresses

up stars like Avril LaVigne, Tokio Hotel, Gogol Bordello, Behemoth) makes Overunit Machine the only italian band to be (proudly) sponsored by them.

2010-2012

A name, a legend: HOWIE B. The legendary producer of U2’s “Pop” album, and BJÖRK’s masterpieces and loads of other fundamental albums, not to mention his much-praised solo career in electronic dance-floor music, gets interested into Overunit Machine’s unique sound and friendly agrees to produce two songs, which represent his first experiment in modern heavy music. The collaboration extends to MAURO ANDREOLLI, producer and sound engineer of important italian acts (Ligabue, Extrema, The Bastard Sons of Dioniso), who edits and mastered the songs at his own studios. “UNGOD EP” (self-production, 2011) is recorded at top-quality studios BLACKMIRROR STUDIOS, (Udine, ITA), contains the tracks recorded and produced by Howie B (“Ikarus”,

“Ungod”) plus two more songs (“Cassandra Syndrome”, “Broken”).

The record is distributed only in digital stores (iTunes, AmazonMP3, TuneCore) and in a deluxe vinyl edition, featuring drawings by international artist SATURNO BUTTÒ.

“Broken” becomes the soundtrack for NCW,official CANADIAN NATIONAL FEMALE WRESTLING FEDERATION !! Last thing that happened, the band's lineup changed, with the arrival of 3 new musicians, Zimon

as new bass player, Slippy as new drummer and Selfist as new synthesizers & fx player.

2013 / 2015

In year 2013 , after the split-up with David Marchetti and the Ghirorecords, the band meets the best italian metal/alternative producers, Dualized and Eddy Cavazza, owners of the label "dysfunction-productions". This lucky encounter evolves immediately in a strict collaboration for the new project called ALDARAJA. After a couple of meetings with Dualized and Eddy, the band and the new producers arrange a businessplan to work on the album. An intense activity starts to develope 10

new songs in a completely different approach to composition, guided by the big experience of Eddy and Dualized. The producers are also known as strict collaborators of famous american producer LOGAN MADER(Machine Head's founder, Roadrunner United, Fear Factory, Cavalera Conspiracy and many more) with which we decided to work on the mixing and mastering of the album. The need of a new videoclip to promote Aldaraja brings the band to choose again Andrea Guarascio as director (like for the videoclip of Ikarus) with the 4FRAME crew. For this occasion a very special guest has been used as leading actor, the famous painter SATURNO BUTTO'. In the meantime, while the band works hard on the composition of the songs, some problems bring some new changings on the lineup, guitarplayers Alan and Luca leave the project, and Diego Die enjoyes the Machine. At the end of 2017 the band has started working for a new video – Torn Apart (Aldaraja, 2017). Aldaraja is now complete and fantastic...it will surprise all of you...and the band is actually waiting the decisions of Mader/Dualized/Cavazza.
