During the months of April and May 2020, the general training course took place for the staff of the Archive, which involved 5 people and concerned the use and guidelines of Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Wikisource. In May, work began on Wikidata, where a a special property for the personalities in the digital archive was created.

In June, the first images of portraits (photos and artworks) were shared with free license,[1] massively uploaded to Wikimedia Commons during July. In August, such images began to be included in the biographical articles of Wikipedia (mainly in Italian and English versions), and on Wikidata. On 30th June the Archive announced the open license for the Ricordi periodicals published between 1842 and 1965.[2]

The first volume of the periodicals has been uploaded to Commons, waiting to be processed and transcribed on Wikisource. An additional upload of iconography on Wikimedia Commons (costume and scenic designs) is in preparation, scheduled for the month of September.

Risultati modifica

The pages viewed with iconography from the Ricordi Archive during the month of August 2020 on Wikipedia and on other Wikimedia sites were 503 thousand, for a total of over 1 million pages viewed since June (also including images already uploaded by users before the beginning of the project).[3][4][5]

So far 554 images from the archive have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Of these, 274 images (50%) are currently used 1 267 times in 63 different wikis, in 60 languages, on more than 1 100 pages, of which 987 in the main namespace.[3][4]

The Wikipedia articles produced within the project are so far 2 in Italian (starting from a translation from other languages), and another 3 have been expanded.

On Wikidata, 4 527 items are linked to the Archivio Ricordi identifier.[6]
