Utente:ADess9/Heritage studies and ICT 2020-2021
Presentation
modificaI am ADess9, a student at the University of Bergamo and attending the first year of the Master Course in Planning and Management of Tourism Systems.
I created this account in order to take part into a project related to the course of Heritage Studies and ICT, which aims to contribute to articles about municipalities, territories and heritage sites in the frame of Wikipedia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/UNIBG/Heritage_studies_and_ICT), by enriching and enlarging the content of already existing pages.
It was a pleasure having the opportunity to take part into this project.
Preparation
modificaBefore starting, I decided the pages I wanted to focus on and give contributions to; then I looked for reliable sources. After that, I tried to check the sources and information that were already present and I came to the conclusion that they were all reliable sources (I examined them too at the town library of Cassano d'Adda).
The pages to which I decided to contribute are the following:
- Cassano d'Adda (IT): https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassano_d%27Adda
- Villa d'Adda-Borromeo (IT): https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_d%27Adda-Borromeo
- Castello di Cassano d'Adda (IT): https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castello_di_Cassano_d%27Adda
- Cassano d'Adda (ENG): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassano_d%27Adda
Then, I created a Wikipedia Account and edited both the Italian (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utente:ADess9) and the English (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:ADess9) versions of my user page on Wikipedia: there, I added some pieces of information about who I am and about the project related to Wikipedia to which I contributed (as well as the links of the pages I decided to work on).
Finally, I registered on Wikimedia Dashboard through my Wikipedia account and there too I added some information on my profile.
Motivation
modificaThe main reason why I decided to work on such pages is that I have grown up and still live in Cassano d'Adda, which is my hometown. I had the chance to "rediscover" it and appreciate it even more (and in a different way) soon after the end of my Erasmus and, especially, after the first quarantine due to Covid. Beside that, I then decided to focus on the Villa d'Adda-Borromeo and on the Castello di Cassano d'Adda because to me they are two of the most beautiful and captivating buildings of Cassano d'Adda.
Work
modificaCassano d'Adda
modificaI started working on the Italian Wikipedia page of Cassano d'Adda. In this page:
- I added some information in the introduction and in the section related to "Origini del nome".
- I created the brief section (and following paragraph) concerning "Stemma del comune".
- I added some information in the paragraph of the "Onorificenze".
- I added some information in the section of "Monumenti e luoghi d'interesse": more precisely, I created the paragraphs related to "Cappella del Revellino", "Alzabandiera", "Belvedere", "Ruotone (Rudun)" and "Piazze" and added some things in "Palazzo Berva" and "Castello di Cassano d'Adda".
- Then, I added an already existing picture (File:Il Castello Borromeo di Cassano d'Adda.jpg) on Wikipedia (Inserisci -> Immagini e file multimediali -> Cerca): Veduta del Castello di Cassano d'Adda da Piazza Cavour.
At the end, I left a comment in the Discussion Page (Discussione:Cassano d'Adda#Modifica e aggiunta di articoli nella pagina di Cassano d'Adda (Progetto Universitario)), where I described what my contributions to this page had been.
Villa d'Adda-Borromeo
modificaIn this page (Villa d'Adda-Borromeo) I only added some pieces of information in the introduction and in some of the paragraphs related to the history. Then, I added the reference text I used (Carlo Valli, Il Dizionario Cassanese. Roba da ca' nosta, Marna editore, 2010) in the section "Bibliografia".
Finally, I also left a comment in the Discussion Page (Discussione:Villa d'Adda-Borromeo) briefly describing my work.
Castello di Cassano d'Adda
modificaFor what concerns my work in this page (Castello di Cassano d'Adda):
- I added some information in the introduction and in the paragraph "Età moderna" (in the section "Storia").
- I added and created the section "Architettura".
- I added the book I used for my work (Carlo Valli, Il Dizionario Cassanese. Roba da ca' nosta, Marna editore, 2010) in the "Bibliografia".
I later added a comment in the Discussion Page (Discussione:Castello di Cassano d'Adda#Brevi aggiunte pagina Wikipedia Castello di Cassano d'Adda (Progetto Universitario)), once again briefly describing my work and my contributions to this page.
Cassano d'Adda (ENG)
modificaConcerning this page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassano_d%27Adda) my work was to translate some of the most relevant information from the Italian Wikipedia page. In fact:
- I created the sections "Geography" and "Origins of the name".
- I modified and reorganised the section related to "Monuments and main sights", by adding paragraphs related to "Religious architecture", "Civil architectures", "Military architectures" and "Others".
- I also created the section "Anthropic geography".
All the information were directly translated from the corresponding Italian webpage.
Finally, I added a comment in the Discussion Page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Cassano_d%27Adda), where I briefly described my work.
Collaboration with other users
modificaI had the chance to collaborate with user Mcava19 (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mcava19), one of my classmates at PMTS, especially for what concerns the revision of the work done.
Beside that, I did not interact with any other user: I was only greeted and offered some help soon after my registration (but I think it was rather authomatic).
