L'azienda giapponese Nintendo, nota principalmente per le sue console per videogiochi, realizzò alcuni videogiochi arcade tra gli anni '70 e gli anni '90. Il cabinato di maggior successo fu Donkey Kong del 1981.[1]
I primi giochi prodotti non erano programmati ed utilizzavano sistemi elettromeccanici.[2]
