Trenten Beram modifica

Thank you very much for updating Trent Beram's medal count, I really appreciate it. I guess you're a non-Italian speaker but I hope that you can continue working with us. Please feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any question regarding the Italian version of Wikipedia. I would be glad to help you out. Happy editing! --Joaquin008 scrivimi qui 21:35, 26 ago 2017 (CEST)Rispondi

I definitely believe he is worthy of a page, as a Filipino myself I couldn't be more proud of his achievements! The updates should be made public in a short matter of time, maybe just a few days. Every athlete with (at least) a national record is entitled to a page in the Italian version of Wikipedia. In Trent's case he broke the 200 metres and the 4×100 m relay records. I just make sure they meet certain criteria before creating a page: these are our criteria in case you want to see them. But there is still plenty of work to do and everyone's help is welcome...including yours! Language is just a small barrier but I hope that you can keep editing with us. If you ever need my help, just let me know. --Joaquin008 scrivimi qui 17:59, 27 ago 2017 (CEST)Rispondi

You're very welcome! I can definitely help to polish the Trenten Beram Biography! The one part I'm getting stuck at, is when I go into the editing source, it keeps changing the paragraphs into Italian. Although I can read the biography in English Prior to going into the editing source (since I clicked on "Always Translate Italian").

Please help me through that and I'd be glad to take it from there.

Thanks! Glen

Hello Glen, you could create your own sandbox here to make things easier. It's basically a page where you can create and edit an experimental draft for later publication in the main encyclopedia. Feel free to use it at your own discretion. This way you can work more calmly and other users won't overwrite your edits. You can use your sandbox to work on Trent's biography (english text is allowed there) and pretty much everything else you want. Once you get to the editing source section (modifica wikitesto in italian) you can start working on your page. The blue button (pubblica le modifiche) below is equivalent to the one (save changes) in the English version of Wikipedia. Just remember to always follow the guidelines and you'll be fine! Malicious or promotional material is not allowed and copyrights (such as non-free content criteria) still apply. We do have some rules to follow but once you get used to them you could also enjoy editing! Once your draft is ready, I can help you with the translation from English to italian. --Joaquin008 scrivimi qui 13:14, 28 ago 2017 (CEST)Rispondi

Hi.

I believe I might have "Saved" an English edited version of Trenten Berams Biography on the Wrong location.

Please tell me if you see what I wrote?

Apologies for the misdirected summary.

Thenygman

I'm not sure if you understood the last message i sent...

I Rewrote the entire Summary with editing in English and Sent it to you. However, I did NOT SAVE IT!

Please tell me if you see what I sent you ANYWHERE within the message forum so I Don't have to redo/rewrite the entire passage again

Thanks Thenygman

Create a sandbox modifica

Don't worry, it looks like everything is fine. You can save your draft right here. Paste the text and click on the blue button (pubblica le modifiche) to save your version. You can preview your edits by clicking visualizza anteprima (show preview in English). --Joaquin008 scrivimi qui 17:36, 30 ago 2017 (CEST)Rispondi

No, I don't see your draft anywhere. I haven't received anything neither. Your edits won't be shown unless you save them. That is why I am telling you, once again, to save your text into a sandbox. That's the right place to work on Beram's biography. User talk pages are primarily used for communications. Thank you --Joaquin008 scrivimi qui 12:34, 31 ago 2017 (CEST)Rispondi

I included this in the Sandbox as well. Only thing I would need help with is the addition of references. This English summary reads extremely well and had completely verified information directly from the father of Trenten Beram. Let me know that you received it

Trenten Anthony Manugas Beram was born April 1, 1996 in Scarsdale , a northern suburb of New York. He is the son of US Glen Beram and Philippine Nena Manugas. Trenten moved to Hopewell Junction, NY, where he attended Arlington High School in LaGrangeville. Here he discovered his passion for athletics from his father, who was a fitness enthusiast and owner of a gym.

Through the first 2 years of high school, Trenten played baseball earning a spot on the Varsity team because of his batting skills along with his speed in Centerfield. At the urging of his teammates, Trenten joined the indoor track team in his Junior year to help keep in shape for Baseball. Once there, his true abilities surfaced. Within one year, Trenten was able to beat numerous records at the amateur level as well as earn the status of All American at the National Junior Olympics.

In 2014 (his senior year of high school), Trenten was discovered by a talent scout in Manila and then contacted by PATAFA President Philip Ella Juico. He was advised to join the Filipino Athletic National team, which would first require dual citizenship. After months of reflection, Beram decided to choose the colors of the Philippines, driven by his interest and customs for his mother's country. He began the process of obtaining citizenship in November 2015, officially gaining Filipino status seven months later. During this period, Trenten began his academic studies at the University of Connecticut as a math major. While actively contributing to the University's track success, he managed to hold a GPA close to 3.9, with nearly perfect scores.

2016-2017: Two New National Records

Beram makes his entry into the Philippine National team in the 2016 season .

The Filipino athletics world reported on June 24, 2016, at PATAFA Trials, that the 200-meter Philippine 10 year record held by Ralph Waldy Soguilon (21.17), had been broken by Beram who ran it in 21.12 seconds.

In March, 2017, during the Ayala Philippine National Open, he was part of the 4 x 100 national team that marked a 40.29 seconds National record. [3] Three months later, a time of 39.96 was achieved at the Hong Kong Invitational. The 4 × 100 made up of Beram, Lopena, Patrick Unso and Archand Bagsit further improved the Filipino National record in that event. [1]

On July 6, 2017, still a math student at UConn, Trent took part in the Asian Championships (Bhubaneswar, India) where he outperformed a tough field clocking a 200 meter time of 21.05 seconds, further improving on his National Record from the previous year. [2] After advancing through the semifinals in 21.07 seconds, Beram placed fifth in the Finals, once again improving his national record in 20.96. [3] He also became the first Filipino sprinter ever to fall under the 21 second mark in the 200 meter dash. [4 ]

A month later, he flew to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the XXIX Southeast Asian Games. Here he won Gold in the 200 meter dash while setting yet another new National record of 20.84 seconds and beating out Arapong Meenapra (21.22) and Thevarr Gunasegaran (21.26 ). [4] [5] on August 23, 2017. A day later, Beram achieved a monumental record in Filipino athletic history by also winning Gold in the 400 meter dash with a time of 46.39 seconds. Not yet done, Trenten went on the next day to capture bronze in the 4 × 100 relay with a time of 39.11, again crushing the National record. The quartet was composed of Anfernee Lopena, Archand Bagsit, Eric Cray and Beram himself running anchor.

Well done Glen, I can see your draft now. You have your own sandbox, feel free to use it at your own discretion. Good references are not hard to find, I believe, as Beram's popularity is growing after his golden double in the 2017 SEA Games. Have you ever thought of bringing his page onto the English Wikipedia as well? You could try to do it once you have a solid and well referenced draft! Take your time and work on it step by step. --Joaquin008 scrivimi qui 21:53, 1 set 2017 (CEST)Rispondi

I was actually hoping that You could aid in placing the references? I am very new to the Wikipedia scene and will take me 5 times longer to learn than it would be for YOU to just insert. For this reason, I basically just Re-structured your Biography while making it read smoothly in the English Language.

Hi! I figured out how to add references. However, if you can help me to add the Medal Chart (2 Golds & 1 Bronze) along with a photograph, I would really appreciate it!

Hi. Ive added all the references and see that the Medal Count board was added as well. So the only thing I could use help on now is possibly adding the following picture as his Headline pic:

Much Thanks for the help!

I just received the following "FRIENDLY ADVICE" from Rhadow:

You are putting a lot of effort into this article. It strikes me that it might be your autobiography. No one care more about an autobiography than its subject. In Wikipedia land, though, not one is less qualified to write a biography than the subject. Philip Roth, the writer, was blocked from correcting an error in the article about him.

Second, the article passed the first review, but that doesn't mean it will last. Beram is quite an athlete, but not a professional. It might turn out that Beram is not quite notable enough to merit an article. It might get smacked down, completely out of your control. Don't worry, Beram is young. I am sure that eventually there will be enough honors to deserve an article.

Keep up the effort. Rhadow (talk) 22:41, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

My response: I am a Filipino admirer. Only wish I had the skills of this young man. I appreciate the acknowledgment of the effort I have put into my article. I also believe that Mr. Beram is well deserving of a page.

His accomplishments not only include 2 GOLD medals in an international event and 2 National Record Breaking marks for our country. But also a feat which has not been seen in over 3 decades - Winning a 200 meter and 400 meter sprint in the same international venue (Michael Johnson). Having scanned Wikipedia for track and field athletes for some time, I have seen hundreds of subjects who have earned a page with far less impressive accomplishments.

I hope you will reconsider.
