WTCC 2009

La stagione 2009 del Campionato mondiale Turismo (World Touring Car Championship) è stata la sesta edizione del campionato gestito dalla FIA, la quinta dal suo ritorno nel 2005. Inizia l'8 marzo, e termina il 22 novembre, dopo 24 gare. Il campionato, riservato a vetture con 2000 cm³, comprende due titoli, uno per i piloti e uno per i costruttori.[1]

Gabriele Tarquini vince il titolo piloti e la SEAT quello costruttori.

L'italiano Gabriele Tarquini ha vinto il titolo per i conduttori con 4 punti di vantaggio sul suo compagno alla SEAT Sport Yvan Muller, mentre il portacolori della BMW Team Germany, Augusto Farfus, è giunto terzo. Il titolo per le case è andato alla SEAT che ha preceduto la BMW di 13 punti. Tom Coronel ha vinto il titolo riservato ai piloti privati mentre il team SUNRED Engineering, quello per le scuderie.

Il primo calendario provvisorio venne emesso nell'ottobre del 2008.[35]

Vi è stato il debutto di Marrakech, che ha ospitato una gara il 3 maggio su un circuito cittadino.[36] e vi è stato il rientro del circuito di Oporto.

Il 5 novembre 2008 la FIA ha emanato un nuovo calendario che prevede lo spostamento della data a Oschersleben dal 30 agosto al 6 settembre (al fine di evitare la concomitanza con il Gran Premio del Belgio di F1[35]), e quello della Race of Japan a Okayama dal 25 ottobre al 1º novembre. La Race of Italy era inizialmente prevista a Monza ma venne poi spostata a Imola, con uno spostamento anche della data (dal 4 ottobre al 20 settembre).[37]

  • Il Trofeo per indipendenti Yokohama utilizza un sistema di punteggio simile a quello per la classifica generale, anche se vengono premiati con un punto sia la pole che il giro più veloce. Inoltre ci sono tre punti in più qualora un pilota indipendente termini fra i primi 8. Per la gara di Macao vengono attribuiti doppi punti.
