broken Javascript functionality

Hi! I noticed today that "Short url" from [1] is broken; it is not present any more. It still works in other WP languages. I am using these refferences at LibraryThing (see Rudi Assuntino). Maybe you can change the site configurations to preserve the functionality. Thanks in advance. The screen dump shows how the Javascript allows the generation of permanent links according to Bugzilla:021572. This was working at it.wp in the past but is broken since a few days. The Javascript from [2] is still working at other wp projects as demonstrated in the screen dump (link [3] for en:Warsaw Ghetto).

Background: Such links are still valid regardless how often a page is moved. It is still possible to look at the pages sourcecode to identify the wgArticleId=3044130 and in order to generate links as http://it.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?curid=3044130 but this costs extra time.

You are aware that Utente:לערי ריינהארט/monobook.js is only loaded if you are using the monobook skin, right? To make it work in vector, it should be at Utente:לערי ריינהארט/vector.js. Other than that, the code seems to be working fine. Platonides (msg) 13:37, 22 lug 2010 (CEST)

L'utente Lindorm è stato bloccato prima per 36 ore per attacchi personali e poi infinito perché dalla sua attività cross-wiki è risultato essere un'utenza chiaramente programmatica che sta cercando di far passare un suo personale POV (anche su en.wiki i suoi interventi sulla stessa voce sono stati messi in questione). Usare Copia e incolla per creare articoli - Kate Morton

Hi to everyone, I'm a new user. I created the italian versione of the encyclopedia voice "Kate Morton" translating from English. I created writing all by hand. My translation was accepted and published. To work faster, I copied my italian translation and I traslated with automated tools, then I corrected all the mistakes in Spanish and I pasted it on. My work was refused. How could it happen? It's not enough that I translated it? Should I type ALL BY HAND?? If yes, I immediatly proceed to interrupt my collaboration on the multilanguage translations (8 languages) Just let me know. Best regards Luigi

Hi Luigi, in itwiki we delete pages that are translated with semi-automatic translators (C3) so you have to write it by hand.

Yes, you have to to interrupt your collaboration on the multilanguage translations. The translations provided by automated tools can't be considered correct. You must type by hand, it's the only way. ^musaz † 00:17, 18 lug 2010 (CEST)

Hi Luigi! It's easy to spot entries which have been translated using automated tools. They are never written in correct italian, and they are often difficult to understand for a native italian speaker. Automated translators should only be used to get a rough idea of what a foreign language text says, and nothing else. So, please help us keep the italian language version of wikipedia clean of unreadable articles!

Ciao a tutti. Sono un nuovo utente. Ho realizzato la voce italiana per Kate Morton traducendo pari pari dalla versione inglese di Wikipedia. Ho però digitato tutto a mano. La voce è stata accettata immediatamente e pubblicata. Per fare prima, ho copiato la mia versione italiana, da me tradotta, e l'ho tradotta con dei tools automatici in spagnolo, dopodiché ho corretto tutti gli errori e ho tentato di creare la versione spagnola, che però non è stata accettata. Come funziona? Non basta che regalo il mio tempo per tradurre gratis interi brani di Wikipedia, poi dopo si ha addirittura la pretesa che io scriva 20 kilometri di testo in spagnolo a mano? Come funziona? Facendo così scoraggiate gli utenti: una persona, volontaria, già lavora gratis facendo il traduttore e l'interprete multilingue (oltre 8 lingue straniere) e poi vede il suo lavoro gratuito bloccato? Fatemi sapere se esiste un modo per bypassare il copia-incolla, altrimenti interrompo il mio lavoro immediatamente e non contribuirò mai più all'aggiunta, conversione/traduzione di altre voci.

Ciao, grazie dei tuoi contributi e per favore calma. In realtà, perché la tua voce in spagnolo non sia stata accettata, non puoi chiederlo a noi, dovresti chiederlo a es.wiki, che sono altre persone: spagnole. In generale su it.wiki si cancellano le voci fatte con traduttori automatici, ma naturalmente se parti da una traduzione automatica e poi la correggi, il motivo non dovrebbe essere quello. Forse non l'hai corretta abbastanza bene? Non mi sembra, dato l'argomento, che possano non considerarlo enciclopedico. In ogni caso... se contribuire a wikipedia per te è una fatica, lascia perdere.
